Potterhanworth Church of England Primary School

The Friends of Potterhanworth Primary School (known as FOPPS) is a group of voluntary parents, carers and staff who come together to arrange fun events to raise funds to support the school and create opportunities which the school budget just can’t quite cover. The team also organise charity-focused fun raisers such as MacMillan coffee mornings and DEC Ukraine appeal cake sales.

Over the past few years, we have arranged sponsored walks, runs, movie nights, discos, provided refreshments for various events, plus raffles and fun crazy sock or spring clean clothes collections and welly whanging at the village Autumn Festival.

The money raised has helped to provide:

  • outdoor learning spaces
  • new nativity scripts and costumes
  • benches, planters and sensory garden supplies
  • early years materials such as mud kitchens

Each year the teachers receive a small amount from FOPPS to treat the class as they see fit. In recent years, this has covered the cost for interviews with authors as well as equipment to support focused learning.

In addition, the funds routinely provide the Year 6 leavers’ ties, book bags for the new reception intake, as well as supplements for various trips, events and equipment in school.

The school has created a wish list of items such as new recorders for music or scales for maths/science lessons and the money goes towards ticking these off the list.

We are all busy nowadays juggling, work, children, family and life in general so there is no pressure to support and be at every event; instead, different members take turns to help were they can. It is our way of making some fun memories for the children whilst raising much needed funds.

For contact details there is a FOPPS Facebook page and members of the team can be contacted via the school  admin office.
