Ben Kennedy
I am the Headteacher at Potterhanworth CE Primary School. My previous roles have included specialisms in Writing, Assessment, Maths and Science, and I am Designated Safeguarding Lead at the school.
The school’s position at the heart of the local community is very important to me, as is its Christian ethos; our new Vision will underpin the decisions we make as governors.
I am delighted to lead such a wonderful team of staff, and to work with a very committed and supported team of governors.
Richard Gilding, Chair
I have lived in Potterhanworth since 2006. My child has attended the school since 2009, and I was elected Parent Governor in November 2013.
My role is to represent parents on the Governing Body, and I support the school with the broad knowledge and experience gained through my 25 year career as a retail manager.
I have a strong sense of community and civic responsibility. I support the school as often as I can to support the children, (eg accompanying them on school trips, invigilating in exams and helping with DIY).
Laura Collins
Until recently, I was the SENDCo and Senior Teacher at the school and have been part of the governing board since January 2015 as a Teacher Governor.
I have stayed on the Governing body to offer my knowledge and experience to support its transition and development under new leadership.

I have two children at Potterhanworth school who have thrived in the welcoming atmosphere the school provides. When I’m not at work, I enjoy going on long walks with our dog, keeping active and gardening.
Val AbramI became a Foundation Governor in 2014. I am a retired Secondary school teacher with 35 years’ experience. My children attended Potterhanworth School.

Mark Sims
I grew up in Lincolnshire and moved back to the county 7 years ago having been at university in Leeds and several jobs all over the UK. All 5 of our children have attended Potterhanworth Primary School in this period with 2 of our girls in Yr 4 and Yr6.
I have a national operational role for a large automotive company and spend much of my time on the road up and down the country managing a large team and budget.
In my spare time I have an allotment and love my sport, playing golf and cricket and supporting Lincoln City FC.
The Rev’d Lorna Brabin-Smith, Ex Officio Governor
I moved here to become Rector of Branston with Nocton and Potterhanworth last spring. I have had a varied career – my last ‘proper job’ was as a marketing manager with a local authority. Then, having studied in one of the Cambridge theological colleges, I served my curacy in Leicester. After that came seven years as Team Vicar in the Fosse Team, I am now enjoying working with our local schools and churches.
Amy Havenhand
I am a Children’s Mental Health Nurse with over 20 years’ experience working in children’s mental health services across Lincolnshire. I moved from Lincoln to the local area nine years ago, and both of my children have attended Potterhanworth School, with my youngest currently in Year 4.
I am passionate about promoting positive mental health and wellbeing within the school community. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, going on long walks, and travelling to visit new places.
